Hey! I'm Nina, and I'm a musical theatre composer-lyricist and performer. I'm based in New York.

Onstage, I love:

Stories that are offbeat and quirky, as a means to getting to something profound

Stories that use the medium of theater to their advantage - the images, metaphors, spontaneity, and liminality that are specific to our medium

Music and text that celebrates the human voice: harmony, dissonance, percussiveness, solitude, togetherness. (Choir and a capella are a large part of my background!)

Stories about ambitious and smart people who find themselves in situations they can’t think their way out of

Stories about people engaging with forces larger than human control or understanding: outer space, spirituality, science, religion…

Stories about queer people and queer history

Stories that use emotion as a way into usually-intellectual conversations; stories that demonstrate how politics are personal
And here's a small sampling of the art that's resonated with me recently:

Octet, Oratorio for Living Things, Cold War Choir Practice, A Little Night Music, Book of Travelers, How To with John Wilson, A Swim In The Pond In The Rain

I'm originally from Bergen County, New Jersey, where I attended the Bergen County Academies with a concentration in theatre. I graduated from Boston Conservatory at Berklee with a BFA in musical theatre and a songwriting concentration. I am now pursuing my MFA at NYU for musical theatre writing, where I am my class's ASCAP Foundation Max Dreyfus Award recipient. I am a proud member of AEA and the Dramatist's Guild.
I am both a dog and a cat person. (Grew up with incredible dogs, recently discovered the majesty of cats.)
